Looking for a ghost
« on: Thursday 13 November 14 09:23 GMT (UK) »
I have been contacted by a former occupant of The Old Police House in Downton who says that they regularly saw the ghost of a young girl in their house and on inquiring locally was told it was the ghost of a young girl who drowned in a well which used to be in the garden. I took this with a pinch of salt but I wonder if anyone has come across the death of a young girl in the 1920's onwards in Downton before I start looking through the back numbers of the local papers.

There's a book about ghosts in Wiltshire available at all good garden centres.  The story might be in there and give more detail.
