Edinburgh 1841 Census
« on: Thursday 13 November 14 01:31 GMT (UK) »
Can someone please find on the 1841 Census for Edinburgh: John Maxwell, born in Belfast, Ireland. He married Jane Brown in Boardmills, Belfast in the year 1800. They must have moved to Edinburgh between 1800 & 1811 as there son John was born there in 1811. His elder brother Thomas is our direct ancestor who emigrated to New Zealand c1826, (no records for him). John Jnr. married in Belfast but his death record states he was born in Edinburgh. We are hoping to find out more about John Snr. & Jane, - where they lived, occupation, other siblings, when they died. They were Presbyterian.

FreeCen has 100% coverage of the 1841 census of Midlothian.  Images are only available from ScotlandsPeople (pay per view).  It might be worth checking the FreeCen transcriptions before paying out on ScotlandsPeople.  However, there doesn't seem to be a suitable candidate listed in the index.  :-\
