No birthyear/birthplace given in your post

Is he the 1901 entry married to Amy nee Beesley and born 1874 Ashton on Mersey Cheshire?  One son William aged 3?

Hi carol and thanks for the quick response, that is the same Aaron that was married to Amy but he seems to have sailed to new Zealand on his own and Amy and William didn't seem to follow, I've got Amy,s death about 1928 in Manchester England

I noticed that the passenger list showed him on his own and I couldn't find any trace of Amy & William following - very strange ???

No trace of Aaron returning or dying in England.  Do you know whether Amy is shown as a widow on the death cert?

So he was born 140 years ago. There is no death record for him on the NZbdm, could he not have died in NZ?

There is always the possibility he left NZ for another country.  Australia, South Africa, USA etc etc

I noticed that he wasn't on earlier censuses/birth index, etc, as "Driscoll".  I think this may be him in 1881 as "Aron Hayman":
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X3BR-JT6
There is a birth in 1873 for an Aaron Hayman, and William Driscoll m. Ann Hayman in 1875.

Here's a possible sighting in 1937 on a shipping list
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QJDK-ZG5H
Mr A Driscoll, butcher, aged 63, English, was heading to Melbourne.

Probably worth checking Australian death records.
