Would anyone be able to find details of the marriage of Thomas Chippendale to a Barbara POLLARD or possibly Williamson? Was she an opera singer??
Thomas was born 1886 in Fylde, Lancashire, England.
Son of Robert Chippendale & Margaret Chippendale.
He possibly emigrated in 1919 on the Empress of Britain, though others say it was earlier, maybe 1912. I do know that in 1911 he was at Darlaston in Staffordshire and was single at that time. That is the last English record I have access to.
He and Barbara had a daughter Florence Ananda (poss Amanda) Chippendale, b 31 Jul 1927 British Columbia and died aged 15 on 16 Jul 1943.
Unconfirmed research... Thomas was a wood carver; a founder of Vancouver Terchnical High School; a teacher of woodwork at Magee High School; on retirement entered the priesthood in Liberal Catholic Church; carved various pieces for St Chad's Anglican Church, Vancouver in memory of his daughter; BSc from Oregon State College, USA.
Unconfirmed research on Barbara Pollard. Poss born England; active social worker; founded the Vancouver Civilian Mothers' Pension Association in 1921; died abt 1972; had daughter Sheyla who pursued a singing career. Is this where the opera singer came in?
I apologise for the vague details of some of the above; it was just the result of surfing the Internet having been given very vague details by the friend for whom I am doing this research.
