Liverpool RC marriage 1901
« on: Monday 03 November 14 09:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to find the exact date of my great aunt's marriage.
Elizabeth Edwards married George Francis Hardwick at St Michael's RC church in Liverpool in December 1901.
Is there any way of finding which day?
Many thanks.

Probably the best way is to buy the marriage certificate?

Unless you can find an entry in a Catholic Register of Marriages? ::)

Thanks. I have filled in the form on the Liverpool History Projects site a number of times, but I never get a reply. I presume it isn't "live" any more. Has anyone else had any luck with it?
In the end I will send off for the certificate but I don't want to waste my money if it is the wrong one, so trying to check as many details as possible!

I tried looking on Ancestry in the database "All Liverpool, England, Catholic Marriages 1754-1921" but there are no entries for George Hardwick?!

And no entries for Elizabeth Edwards in 1901?

Are you sure they married in St Michaels, rather than the Register Office? :-\

EDIT: Ah! St Michael registers on Ancestry only up to 1897! ::)

Have you found the 2 of them together in 1911-doesn't that help?

Make sure that you use the official GRO website if you decide to order the marriage cert.
It will cost you just £9-25 and they post anywhere in the world for that price  ;D

Hi Carol 18353,
yes, I have them on the 1911 census...trying to work backwards as using the censuses and her headstone, I have 6 different dates of birth for her, varying by 15 years! Either she had a very bad memory or she didn't like getting older!

St Michael RC marriages only go up to 1897 on Ancestry.
