William was the son of Thomas Baxter and Sarah Ann nee Jarman he was born in Glamorganshire in 1887.  He was married to Martha Jane nee Lloyd.  He joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers initially and then transferred to the Royal Engineers as a Sapper in the Tunnelling Coy.  Before enlisting he had been a lead miner. He died on 31/07/1917 somewhere in Ypres and has no known grave.  His name is listed on the Menin Gate Memorial.
We will remember him.
