Thank You ALL

I would never have guessed he was born in Hull.  I have now had a good look at all the information on Ancestry, and found it very interesting, plus the photo on his Reformatory School record is a real bonus.

Can I view the newspaper records/reports on-line?

Thank You once again for all your help - where would I be without RootsChat?
Best Wishes,
Patsy

His crime , according to the reformatory record , was stealing boxes of sweets , a first offence !!!
There is a photo of him on the record which I am sure will interest the OP.

Oops , sorry - I missed the boat !

Hello Again, and Thank You for all your help with the KEEFF family, who did not like registering births and marriages it would seem! No luck finding a birth record for Frank yet!

I have found a John Keeff in London on the 1851 census living in Lambeth, (HO 107/1569) but born in Hull, with the occupation of a hatter, and then a marriage record for a John Keeff in Whitechapel shortly after that date. The next record I can find for a J. Keeff is serving in the Crimean War 1854 - 1855 14th Regiment Number ??386 (page not fully open when scanned) and alongside are some letters, possibly H & R then some numbers possibly a date of 24/1/57.  Reference W O 100 Piece:27 Any idea what the letters and numbers stand for?

I am hoping that this John Keeff is the father of Thomas Keeff & grandfather to Frank Keeff and the inspiration of Frank joining the Guards. Do you think this is possible or am I barking up the wrong tree?

All help gratefully received.
Patsy
