1881 census at same address: -

William Houghton, 42 coal miner b Lancashire (terrible writing) looks like Lower Ground (Standish/ Wigan).
Ellen Houghton 36 b Ireland West something
William Houghton 9 months b Wigan

I think that should read  Thomas and Ellen Houghton with a son Thomas ? At 4 Watmoughs Yard

Definitely not my relations then.  By 1881 they had split up and Ellen was living under her maiden name in Leigh - Ellen Marsh and two sons, but thanks !
