Looking for information on Roger Fishwick (from Seacombe) died in Sowerby Bridge

Hi All,

I've been researching the interesting life of my 2x Gt Uncle Roger (Rodger) Fishwick (b.1834 d. between 1871/81).   Roger was born and lived in Seacombe.  I'm unable to find details of his death or burial in local records.  A Rodger Fishwick died in Sowerby Bridge (Boyscar ?) in 1873 of Phthisis (potentially tuberculosis/consumption).  His occupation (Porter) and wife's name (Jane) marry up as does the period of his death (within a decade between census records).  I was wondering what he was doing in Sowerby Bridge (if indeed it is the same Roger).  Was there a sanatorium there, or could Roger have been related to other Fishwick's in the area.  Or do I simply have the wrong record ?

Please could anybody help to validate or point me to other records sources / forums, etc.

Fathers OCCUPATION  - Sawyer

Marriage:-

4th May 1854  St. Nicholas Church Liverpool
Roger Fishwick = Jane Bailey
Both of Full Age  Bachelor & Spinster
Fathers - Hugh Fishwick  (Sawyer)  and John Bailey (Mariner)

There are details about Roger on a well sourced family tree on Ancestry.

His death can be see on:-

Have you purchased his death Certificate?

His wife marries again in 1877 to John Anderson. On 1881 Census
RG11; Piece: 4150; Folio: 121;
Habergham Eaves, Lancashire

with some of the Fishwick children.

Thanks for the wealth of information.  I do now have the death certificate, which seems to confirm Roger did die in Sowerby Bridge and wife Jane was with him at the time.

Daisy,  Thank you.  Roger died 31 December 1873 so it is possible you have found his burial record.  I'll do some digging to see what other information I can glean, but if you have access to local sources I would appreciate further insight if there is any.  Alternatively if you are able to point me in the right direction I would love to follow up on this.  I think I mentioned in earlier posts that Roger has really captured my attention due to his life history, as short as it was.
