Census help 1841 & 1851 DUMBRELL

Could I please ask for a look up on the 1841 & 1851 census for..

William DUMBRELL b. 1802. Horsted Keynes.
He is on the 1861 census as DAMBRELL
Charity b. 1797 Lindfield.

And any family they have still living with them.

Maybe William’s parents may still be alive in 1841
Richard & Sarah DUMBRELL.

There others researching Dumbrell on this board.  try doing a search in the box at the top.    I will check the 1851 census later for you.   Where are they in 61?

No sign of Richard and Sarah in 51.   I am sure it will be worth checking the original of this one as William's birth place is not the same as in 1861.   Wivelsfield is not that close.   There are some Dumbrell/Dumbrills there in 1851 too and a lot in Lewes.

Hi Snowflake

On the 1871 census for Preston (see http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,59592.0.html), there is a probable ancestor of mine called Charlotte Fuller, who is listed as living with her brother, Richard Dumbrill, and both were born in West Hoathly (although it actually says West Horsley), Charlotte in 1836 and Richard in 1838.

Do you know if there is any connection between these two and the people you are looking for? It would be nice if I could verify that Charlotte, who would be my 3 greats grandmother, was actually Richards sister and thus a Dumbrill. The coincidence of the name Richard Dumbrill, despite the spelling, and the closeness of locality would seem to indicate some connection.

1851  Piece 1641 Folio 469   for Great House West Hoathly has a Richard Dumbrell age 13 servant,  farm lab, birth place not given.    Head of household Hobbs.   West Hoathly and Horsted Keynes are quite close.

No sign of any others.

This is a great help.

Glen, I can't see any connection with a Charlotte Fuller and a Richard Dumbrill on any of my family so far.

Also checked the other Dumbrells being researched but they are not mine.

I have only just started researching, but I have found a link with you. My great-great-grandfather was Thomas Dumbrell, born in Horsted Keynes abt 1813. (Dembvell is the mistranscribed census name used, although I have posted a correction to Dumbrell) In 1841 and 51 he is living in Scaynes Hill near Lindfield. He was a blacksmith.
His son. Philip, became a carpenter and moved to Brighton where his son, James, my great-grandfather was born in 1863. James emigrated to Australia in the early 1880s, and married widow Mercy Ransley (previously from Brighton, nee Chatfield). She was 20 years older than he, and they had two daughters, Jessie Rose (died aged 1), and my grandmother, Louisa Matilda.
I am looking for relatives of the Dumbrell family of Lindfield.
