LOOKUP REQUEST NEW YORK ? 1849 BIRTH/ or siblings

Looking for help to locate a register of birth or any siblings of William Lafferty born 1849 possibly may 13th, parents were Patrick & Mary nee (Falconer).
At Nov 1869 he married in Scotland, marriage details reveals his mother deceased, unknown when he sailed to scotland.
On one of the scottish census its states born New York also added is 13.5 maybe his date of birth.
Any help to find williams family,  united states will be very helpfull.

28 Dec. 1869, died Patrick Lafferty, in the 76th year of his age.  He was a native of the parish of Orney, Co. Tyrone, Ireland.  The funeral took place from the residence of his son-in-law, Robert Borland, No. 253 West Nineteenth St.

No, I see now he is not your Patrick.  This Patrick had a widow Rose who died in 13 Sept. 1873.  Also named in her obit was son-in-law Robert Borland.

Which census says 'born New York'? and what do all other census records give for place of birth?

Have just answered my own question-

1871- U.S. of America British Subject
1881- America British Subject
1891 America
1901- New York (British Subject)

So, all consistant but unfortunately long before registration of births in New York (which could refer to either the city or the state itself)
