Thank you so much everyone... what a fantastic job you have done  ;D ...

Re the sizing, can I use one of these pictures as a template in Photoshop in order to get the right format for uploading... I know I was directed to a "how to" link but I haven't quite got the hang of that yet...

Also I have been looking at the boys odd stance... do you think he is standing with his legs crossed?

That's what I thought, even if his boots are a few sizes too big, I think he's standing with his legs crossed. Gorgeous children. :)

See what you mean, but I don't think so - surely one of his toes would be a bit pointed if this were the case.     :-\ ;)

When I resized your scan DDD, I just kept reducing the longest side a little bit at a time until the info was showing just under 500kbs.

Try doing that with your original and see if you can understand what I mean.  (Not very good at explaining things.)

Hi...My contribution and I think he has his left leg crossed over his right, still its a wonderful photo. Now I'm having a second thought, I now think he doesn't have his legs crossed.

For a date, 1870s by the furniture. Prior to mid-decade the photo corners were square, then after that they became rounded to make it easier to slide them in and out of album pockets. These look rounded, but I think they were cut post-production...the upper left corner still seems to be square. Also the boy seems to be in a posing stand, visible behind him...this disappeared about mid decade. So I would say early 1870s.

I believe shoes could be both same shape in the past, no left and right. If this is 1870's could be a late example. These are not rich kids, so maybe.
