Photographs from 1930's and 1940's
« on: Saturday 06 September 14 19:15 BST (UK) »
Hi all
Like many of her generation, my late Mother had many pen pals from around the world. They used to send photos of themselves to each other and also of the places where they lived. I have a quantity of photos of cities and buildings and resorts dating from the 1930's and 40's eg USA, South Africa. They are mostly home snaps rather than commercial images, but there are some interesting buildings on there. I can't post them on here as there are too many, but has anyone any bright ideas as to what I can do with them? It seems a shame to throw them out. There is one of a royal visit to I think it was Durban with the late Queen Mother of UK on it.
Thanks

You could scan them and upload them to Flickr, then many people would be able to find them. I'd be interested to see photos of Durban as my dad was there briefly in his army service.

It would take a while to scan them if you have lots, but you could just do a few at a time.

This is my photostream, to give you an idea; you can organise your photos into 'albums' i.e. photos on the same theme. I don't upload stuff very often but keep meaning to !

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never used flicker yet, but I know my OH looks at pics of old buses on there (his passion) . I'll have a look at your photostream too so thanks for that. I just hate the idea of throwing old stuff out.
