There is also an immigration record of a Mary Turner emigrating to USA on 4 August 1892 from Liverpool to Boston on board the Pavonia.  She is listed as being 54 (born 1839) as described as wife.

Pheno

Don't think that is the correct Mary Turner, looking at the other info on the passenger manifest  ???

Travelling on a Boston Passenger List - Mary Turner aged 54 years - wife - was travelling with James Turner - husband -- aged 63 years from Cheshire - occupation :- labourer - going to Rhode Island.
Also travelling Herbert Turner aged 17 years (hatter) and Polly Turner 15 years (spinner)

This is part of that family in 1900  Lincoln, Providence, Rhode Island

James Turner  68 Born Eng. Immigrated 1892.
Mary Turner  63 Born Eng. Immigrated 1892.
Herbert Turner  20 Born Eng. Immigrated 1892.

So actually, if she is not the Mary Turner in Marshall nor the Mary Turner on the Pavonia she could be the Nun in 1901?

Hi.  I am trying to find the date of death for James Viggers born in 1840 - not sure where, but he married Mary Tasker Sept 1858.  In Sept 1877 Mary married Alfred Turner.  I can't find any information as to what happened to James.  Also it appears that Alfred and Mary went to Marshall, West Virginia as they are recorded there in 1900.  I have tried to find them on passenger lists but am struggling as I am not sure even where they would have sailed from.  Not much to go on and a very long shot but can anyone help please.

In the original post you say you are looking for the death of James Viggers - you were given that information in reply 1 on a previous thread - will link here for you to see.

Mary Turner is a very common name, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions to her being the nun. You need to track back that group and see if a Mary Turner was there in previous censuses.

Hi, thanks everyone for all your help.  I couldn't find any record of Alfred and Mary for 1881 and so incorrectly thought they were the two having gone to W Virginia.  I must remember to follow each link thoroughly before assuming anything.  Thanks everyone for putting me on the right track.
