Write to LFB Headquarters, 169 Union Street, London, SE1 0LL  or Telephone 0208 555 1200.

They were very helpful to me and I got the information I wanted.  They are very hot on the Data Protection Act and they will only give information to direct descendents.
In my case, they wanted my husband's signature on everything, because he was next of kin and I wasn't.
The fact that the person I was asking about had been dead for 40 years didn't cut any ice with them.

The paperwork they sent me had some names blacked out. These people were probably dead, but the LFB said that they might have close family still living.

Good luck

Sadly you may not find them as many of the AFS records were destroyed at the end of the war.My father was in the AFS in Birmingham and they have gone.
