;) Hi great to hear from you. Welcome to the mystery club. Talk about 'Naughty Fred', what about 'Irascible Issac'!!
The release date from prison or approximate time would help towards finding the elusive Issac.
As you have probably guessed, Issac's death is another mystery...Date & Country.
I wouldn't be surprised if he sold the Hotel fraudulently and went and finished his days with family in Oz!!? ( I'll have a search).
Their father, the wine merchant, seemed O.K...and had a nice home in London.
It would be great if you had a little time to look for a death certificate. He sometimes called himself Challenor and the last date I have for him was 1901 census in Liverpool. Heaven knows what he got up to after that!
Do you know of Ethel Eveline, the daughter of Isaac and Sarah?  We think we found her on a ship
from Australia to UK in 1914, as a nurse. She could have ended her days in Oz.
This site works as an open forum and any replies show on the top of your page.
As you can see other members are quite helpful & supportive and their knowledge has no borders.
 :D Cheers Ken.

Hmmmmmm just figuring out hiw this site works. Lovely to be on board. I have been back at university this year, shall now turn my research skills (small laugh as I am a beginner in this field) to finding the irascible Isaac. Anyone know much about the Ogles before them? I think I have a trail but am not sure. Will post it when I am back in New Zealand after Christmas in Australia. Merry Christmas to the Ogs out there and all the other fams!!  :D

Hi
I'm not related, however I've been researching the merchant families of Newry and the surrounding area on and off for several years now, so have certainly encountered the Ogles. I can't help with Isaac Walker's eventual demise, however as to his siblings:

1.   Margaret Ogle (c1842). Margaret died on 18 Dec 1865 at Bangor. Probate was granted to her father Frederick of Victoria Place, Belfast on 11 Nov 1865
2.   Letitia Ogle (c1844) ?m.(1894 Belfast) Samuel ___. Letitia married Samuel Barr, a merchant and Justice of the Peace who lived at Claremont, County Londonderry. Samuel was a widower when he married Letitia on 7 Nov 1894. When he died in 1896 his Will (available online via PRONI) instructed his Trustees to pay any interests from his estate to Letitia during the rest of her natural life. She moved to Colwyn Bay in Wales and died there on 31st Dec 1917.
3.   Frederick Ogle (c1846 Belfast), commission agent, Australia, m.(1875 London?) Adelaide Lammese. 5 or 6 children?. Frederick was born on 15th Aug 1847, and married Adelaide Louisa Lammerse in 1879
4.   Francis Robert Ogle (c1847) m.(1878 Belfast) Elizabeth ___. Francis Robert married Elizabeth Campbell at Trinity Church, Belfast on 13 Jul 1878, and died just under 3 years later on 6 Jul 1881
5.   Isaac Walker Ogle (c1849).
6.   Sarah Ogle (c1851). Sarah married John McIlveen, a linen merchant, on 19 Feb 1874 in Belfast; they had 5 daughters
7.  John Hardy Ogle. Born 1841, died 9 Aug 1870 at 116 Chichester Place, Belfast

Frederick (1814-13 Sep 1869) was the son of John Ogle, (1772 Newry-17 Nov 1831 Dublin), a solicitor, and his wife Isabella Walker (1784-26 Mar 1848). I have additional information on the Ogles which I'm happy to share - have PM'd you my details.

Best Regards
Jim

Hello all,

I have a podcast called 'Family History Mysteries'. I am based in Australia and am currently preparing an episode on Frederick Ogle and his family. I came across your discussion on the Ogle family and would love to see if any family members are closer to solving some of the mysteries in the family. i would also love family members to read over my script once it is done to check over. looking forward to hearing from you :)
