thankyou oh wow  I now have Amelia's last name I just don't know where to look I find all this technology very hard to get my head around
I know he John was at Roadside and It seems Catherine did marry James Adams
as John was around 18 when my grandfather was born John never married my gdfathers mother
she was left to raise him alone
I wonder what happened to John after 1891 tho

The grandparents died 1882 for Amelia Davie at Crofts of Tulloch and 1884 for John at Tullynessie
The best place for searching for births /marriage /death is on Scotlands People

Sorry for the dumb ? but would that mean he took on the name Adams after his mother married and dropped the Sinclair???

I don't see a marriage on Scotlands People for Catherine and James adams ..and I don't think that is them on the 1881 census think the John mentioned there is the son of a Catherine Thomson born 1873 Aberdeen ..I think the best thing to do would be to get a copy of the birth certificate for John Sinclair 24/5/1874 to see if a fathers name is mentioned ...

Just want to say thaks for the input from everyone I see ill have to do more tracking somehow to find where he goes from 1891 forward
