Lots of dates, rates of pay, and codes - so this is a precis:

20 Sep 1915  Engine Cleaner
7 Dec 1917 Fireman
28 June 1937  Driver
Last entry 3 Sep 1951

20 Sep 1915 Exeter
7 Dec 1917 Cardiff
14 Aug 1920 Exeter (Own Request)
28 Jun 1937 Exeter (Temporary <something?>
27 Sep 1937  Abercynon
17 Feb 1941  Exeter. Own Request

13 Aug 1924 Commended
Keeping a sharp look out & promptly signalling to driver to stop train, thereby avoiding serious injury to a woman who had fallen on to line.

It really would be worthwhile either getting a month's subscription to Ancestry, and looking yourself! You could then take a copy of the page.
Alternatively, try your local library - they may have Ancestry access?

 ???

I only have a UK sub, and it's fine for me?

I had assumed you were in the UK, but you haven't updated your profile to say which country you reside in?

Hi, I have just had a quick look and there is a splendid record of him including his eyesight, illnesses and postings. It states on 13/8/1924 at Ide (I think) he was commended for keeping a 'sharp lookout' and signalled to warn the driver as a woman had fallen on to the line and in doing so saved her.

I have to go out and may be offline for a while but if you want to know more of his dates of service etc let me know..it's all handwritten and I would not say I'm and expert on GWR record keeping etc but will try my best.
Regards
Pat
