Every Man Remembered - Royal British Legion
« on: Friday 29 August 14 20:24 BST (UK) »
Saw this on TV, and as I have recently discovered a couple of ancestors who died in WW1, thought I would take a look and commemorate them.

I found one, but the other one doesn't seem to exist in the database they are using, even though this is in conjunction with the CWGC.  My chap is definitely on the CWGC website, with the relevant paperwork.  If I put just his name in, it doesn't find him.  If I put the full details in, it doesn't find him, just wants to send me round and round in circles checking the database, and he's not in their database.

I emailed the RBL yesterday but no reply as yet.

Lisa,
Try putting in just initials and surname. This should bring up all those with the same or similar initials and surname. Scroll through until you find the one with the same date of death as your relative. It is just a case then of matching the regiment or service.
I had the same problem as you had, I kept getting something like "too much information", so I reduced it to basics and it worked!
Best of luck,
Sharki.

No luck with that, unfortunately, Sharki, initials and surname, or surname only just give one result and its the wrong chap!

Hopefully the RBL will get back to me soon
