O'Hare family Co Down Ireland
« on: Thursday 28 August 14 14:13 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help? The O'Hare family in Liverpool descended from Michael O'Hare (father's name also Michael) born abt 1849 in Co Down Ireland. He married Elizabeth McVey, also from Co Down, in Liverpool 1871. Amongst their children was Thomas. Elizabeth, a daughter of Thomas, is known to have visited the ancestral home in Ireland. The family suggest that the location was Newry. This of course may just have been her port of arrival. With so little to go on and such a common surname, I am at a loss for how to proceed. Any suggestions gratefully received, especially from persons who have established Irish links with such little information. The birthplace of Michael and Elizabeth is listed as Co Down on 1891 AND 1901 UK census forms.

Thank you kingskerswell - I have looked but none seem to quite fit the bill - I appreciate your reply.

Not sure if you've seen this - it may even be an old post of yours - but there's a post on the www.oldwarrenpointforum.com which may be of interest

http://www.oldwarrenpointforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2705

If the link doesn't work just do a google search for michael o'hare + elizabeth mcvey + newry and it should come up on the first page of returns

Good luck with the search

Dear plumpyone

If this works out, I will be forever indebted to you. Not a forum I have seen before but this looks like the right family. Many, many thanks (and to Google!)
Checking it all out later.
