Do you know what county in Ireland Caroline was born in? When did they relocate to Malta? There are seven Caroline Kennedys born in Ireland in the 1870s, although none registered in 1872. More information would help us find the right one.

edit: sorry just realised you posted this on Tipperary board so assume she was born there. Can't find any in Tipperary. Do you know what parish or townland she was from?

hello, sorry that's all I know about her early life, her father was born in Tipperary and I know that he was   in the army in Malta in 1868 when he got married there. and in 1891 was  in Malta when Caroline got married at age 17. but this time he was a Prison Warder. think he had retired from the army by this time. I have just been looking at Caroline's marriage cert and underneath her name it has Irish and that is why I think she must have been born on the army base. Her father was in 1/8th Regt

The army had it's own registration of births, think it's on Find My Past.
Not sure of the dates it covers.

Modifying to add
It's called The Regimental birth index.

Hello,

If she married in 1891 at 17 yrs of age, her birth would be more likely 1874.
I also wonder if 'Irish' means parentage rather than place of birth.
This article http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/8th_(The_King's)_Regiment_of_Foot. has the 1st Battalion returning to the sub-continent from Malta in 1868 for a decade.
Are there any other children besides Caroline? Do you have their births? She may well have been born in India. Unless her father was already retired, in which case she may be born in Malta.

Regards
Heywood

Do you have Daniel's record of service? That might be on FindMyPast?
