Seth COPLEY
« on: Wednesday 20 August 14 21:01 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for the death/burial of Seth Copley, born in 1839, was on 1871 census. Lived in Normanton area. His death is a real puzzle,  have tried all main Gene sites to no avail...where do I look next?

Hello Wendy,
I can see him on 1881 4573/54/26

He is still in Normanton and a shoemaker.

Regards
Heywood

Oh I thought you didn't as you mentioned 1871. I had been looking 1871-1881  :)

Now I am looking after 1881- did he emigrate perhaps?

It looks as though he went to Philadelphia USA in 1888.

Did he have a complicated marital history? Married Emma Kershaw in 1860, "unm" in 1871, widowed in 1881 but with a lady in the household.

Any complications which might have necessitated a new name or a fresh start overseas?

Ah - I see Maureen has come up with a promising lead :)
