Mawby in Leicestershire
« on: Wednesday 20 August 14 18:33 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I need some help.

I have come to a stand still and cannot move any further back with my tree...

...any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Thomas Mawby b 1801
married to Ann b 1806
Children:
James & Sarah b 1826 (twins?)

I believe they would be in the Gilmorton or Peatling parva area, although prior to this the family are in St Margarets in Leicester

Uhm...

deep in the depths of my mind that name rang a bell.

So I checked my database and I have Mawby from around 1850.

But - only a name Mary Powers Mawby. She married a John Lewis Moulds and they lived in BARWELL.

So you may find something in that area.

all the best

Is this the family?

1841
Gilmorton
Thomas Mawby 40 FkKr.  (Frame work knitter)
Ann 35
James 15
Sarah 15

All bn in county

Remember ages were rounded in the 1841 census, so James and Sarah are not necessarily the same age. Both are probably age 15-19.
Likewise Thomas and Anns ages will be rounded.

In later censuses, where do each of them say they were born?

So, how did you get to them- what is your link to them? Are you descended from one of the children? If so, how did you get back to this Thomas and Ann in 1841?
