Thomas Hughes from Tamworth

Hi
Can someone help me with the service records of Thomas Hughes, he was originally from Kensington, Middlesex and he was a private in the 1st battalion Nottingham and Derbyshire regiment and his number was 42540. He died in France on 25th August 1918 aged 27. Any information about his life before the army would be gratefully appreciated also. Thanks

According to his service records, Thomas Hughes was born about 1891 Kensington Residence N8 Marshall Court Tamworth aged 24years 11months occupation miner ...Next of kin Sarah Hughes wife ..Married January 1914 Sarah Davies ..daughter Doris born 29th April 1914 Tamworth

Sorry his army records are not in good condition and the writing is all faded and badly blotted with ink marks ..Just make out the information I have already given his wife was sent his medals and states killed in action

Maybe you would be better to order his marriage certificate record Jan 1915 Tamworth to Sarah Davies ...Also birth of daughter Doris May Hughes Apr-June 1915 Tamworth ...The marriage should get you his parents where he was living if you don't already know ?

I'm going into Tamworth in the morning - as Thomas and Sarah were married at St Editha, I should be able to get the marriage entry details for you.

Thomas Hughes, 26, Bachelor, Labourer of 6 Marshall Court, Church Street.  Father:  James Hughes (deceased), Engineer.
Sarah Davis, 20, Spinster of 6 Marshall Court, Church Street.  Father:  Thomas Davis, Labourer
Witnesses:  Francis Davis, Florence Davis.

17 June 1915 - St Editha, Tamworth
Doris May Hughes, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Hughes of 7 Marshall Court, Church Street.  Thomas is a Miner.  Doris May born 29 April 1915.
