Etal Rhodes Farm

Can anyone tell me how this farm got its name? What is the significance of the word RHODES? Several places nearby are named after men who fought at Battle of Flodden 1513 eg Errol hut, Surrey House, but I can't find a similar connection with this place. My great great grandparents  john Redpath and Mary Sutheren lived in the now-ruined cottages in the 1850's. It is on the Ford and Etal estate.
Any info appreciated!

My grandfather lived in those now ruined cottages, he then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where he married my Grandmother. At outbreak of the great war enlisted in the Royal Artillery. Killed on Somme 29/09/1918,.buried at British War Cemetery at Mouvres just off the Albert to Bepaume road. My wife and I have visited his grave on a regular basis. His name is John Redpath. Thank you for responding to my post. I actually know th village well as I live quite close but no one seems to know why it s called Rhodes. In fact an e pert on place-names told me it is probably a variant of Roads. So not very exciting......!

Hi Belfordian, I can't help out regarding how the name came about but, while looking up some Ford burials recently, one from 1763 had his abode listed as "The Rhodes"
 Interested to see what may be found out though  :)
