Oh my thats wonderful, thank you all they are fantastic!!

Didn't know he could be scrubbed up that well 

I feel he could be my 2 x Great Grandfather John Saunders born in 1851 but don't know if that would tie in with the age of the picture?

I dont have scans of the original yet, this was taken on a mobile phone of it, but it is abt 7 x 5 and stuck onto card to create a border. Nothing written on the front or reverse.
