There's a list of miners who worked at Glenravel/Parkmore area in my book on the history of the mines "The Mountains of Iron". If you have any queries on these mines you can ask me.

I am interested in a miner who lived in Broughshane, Co Antrim around 1890 and I guess worked in a mine nearby.  Does anyone know where the mine was?

Townlands of Broughshane Upper & Broughshane Lower quite close to Ballymena-

Broughshane village slightly further away-

If you google 'mining in Ballymena area' lots of information comes up. Here's a sample-

Thanks for the helpful information.
I have been  looking online but mainly found information on mines in the Glenravel/Red Bay area.
I have however just checked Felix McKillop's book "Valley of the Braid" and it has a section on mining at Ballylig and Clonetrace (very close to Broughshane), which is what I was looking for.
This is interesting and largely forgotten in this area.  When the mines scaled back or closed some of the miners moved to Scotland to work in the coal mines.

This may help,
Go to 1901 Census records, click on Co Antrim, then click on More search Options , then type Miner into the occupation box. Hit search.
It will bring up a list of 372 listed miners and the first guy is a David Montgomery, Broughshane
Just scroll through the pages
👍🏼 Good luck

Thanks for the very useful information.
I have used the census many times but had not tried searching on occupation.  The list of miners in Co Antrim is interesting.  I knew of iron ore mining in the Ballymena/Broughshane area and coal mining at Ballycastle, but was surprised to find coal miners in Belfast and even a few gold miners.
It was also surprised to see coal miners from Scotland and England in Belfast.
By 1901 iron ore mining in Co Antrim had declined and the family of miners who I am looking at had all moved to Scotland.

I found the reason for the miners, from Scotland and England, living in Belfast - they were soldiers living in a barracks.
