Huihana Pene Kahi is mentioned here with Waiwhatawhata
http://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=18422432

It looks like a Maori land claim. Waiwhatawhata is also the name of a Marae in the near Omapere. Te Kaiwaha Marae - the marae is that it is home to the Ngapuhi hapu (sub-tribe) Ngati Korokoro/Ngati Wharara of the Hokianga.

This would be interesting to look into.

Huihana Ranga married John Leaf/Leef of Portsea England. She was the daughter of chief Taku Terewhare. John brought some of Taku's land. Eliza Jane was one of Huihana & John daughters, she married Woods, both were school teachers in the Hokianga.
Huihana was also known as Te Rangahau,  or Rangahau, she became chieftainess when her father died. these are the only names she was known by. She was born in Hokianga an lived in the Whirinaki Valley on their land called Opara. If this page is still being read who ever it is that is looking for information can contact me, or reply to this post.
Ranga was not to the best of my knowledge married to Wiremu Cassidy.
Huihana Penekahi is not Huihana Ranga Leaf/Leef
