Mystery Man
« on: Monday 04 August 14 23:59 BST (UK) »
I have just been shown this picture tonight which my Dad found in my Nans cabinet. I have an idea of who it maybe but wondered what info anyone could offer as to age and when taken? It's about 5 x 7 and on card.

Hiya, I was just browsing through the threads here and came across yours. I love the old fashions, so thought I would take a look.  I found a picture of a gentleman wearing a similar outfit that stated it was the 1870s.  Check out the guy in the 4th photo.

Hope this helps a bit.

A bloke in a suit is quite difficult to date without the benefit of the cardstock info.however I detect a separate buttonhole on his waistcoat for his watch chain. This is an innovation that first arrived in 1888.
So for a decade I would suggest 1890's.
