Hi Carol!

How wonderful to know! My mom was a red head too. My brother was a tow head that got darker as he got older and mine ended up dark brown. I’m very excited and grateful for any and all pictures! I’m wondering if there’s some Scandinavian in there or Irish because of the red hair. Thank you for replying!

Sincerely,
Tara

Hi Tac,
Here is a photo of my Grandparents, Edward and Margaret Ann Capes as promised. I coloured this one myself as you can see from the original version. Our Capes line was from East Yorkshire.

Aaaaaaw!——That is really poignant ,all their dreams and ambitions gone .

I half expected ,before I read your post right through ,that he would be at Tyne Cot Cemetery, Passendale near Ypres.
A lovely tranquil place ,immaculately maintained ,many soldiers of The Northumberland Fusiliers are there, not far from Passendale .
Hence “Tyne Cot”.
All the war cemeteries are really peaceful.
Lovely to see the couple in colour ,well done .
I hope we never forget how ordinary people behaved with such extraordinary bravery .
Thanks. We need to remember - and not only on November 11 th at 11 O’Clock .
Viktoria.

Hi Carol!

Thank you for the pictures of your grandparents! It’s wonderful to see the faces of some relatives from the Capes side. My mom had told me the Capes were from East Yorkshire, Kingston Upon Hull. I think Jessie may have worked in the fish house and that’s where she met Thomas, but I’m just guessing. I had found war records about Thomas some time ago. 😥 My mom decoupaged the letter from King George telling Jessie that he had been killed. Anne and Billie never went to live in Belfast that I know of - probably because of the war. Jessie went to Aberdeen to have Anne because she wanted her to be born in Scotland  😂
