Suffolk Record Office has 27 results in their catalogue for the name Tiffen / Tiffin , including one for the Will of Thomas Tiffen of Acton , dated 1772. I don't know where you are based or what copying services they offer so I've tried to post a link to the list of results but it doesn't ' stick'.  This will take you to the search page :

http://www.suffolkheritagedirect.org.uk/  - Just put the surname in the keyword search box , making sure to try both spellings. The search is across various sources and you need to wait for the Record Office results to load.

Hi all,

I can see that this is an old thread (2014), but I have recently come across a ref. in the Ipswich Journal of a Mr. Tiffen, of Acton, Suffolk (miller) who married a Miss Hart (from Newton, Suffolk).  The marriage was listed om 01/10/1791.

Any first names would be good starting point, and whether related to Timothy Tiffen of Bocking, Essex, also a miller.

Cheers,
Windy

there is a marriage between Samuel Tiffen and Sarah Hart on 28-09-1791 at Great Waldingfield, Suffolk. Do you have any other information? a location would be great

Hi Petey22,

Well, that seems like my man.  The only info I have is as follows:-

Wednefday was married at Acton, Mr. Tiffen, miller, to Mifs Hart of Newton.”

From the Ipswich Journal (1791/10/01).

Looking at my windmill records; there was no mill (wind or water) at Acton, and little info on this early date on the millers at Gt. Waldingfield.  However, there do appear to have been at least two windmills there, so he might have worked one.
