Hi

So we don't duplicate info you already have can you tell us if you have parental info from his marriage or death cert and which census records you have?

I can't see a matching 1881/1891 entry

Where were they married?

Who were their children?

There is no marriage in 1872 on Scotlands People between a John Pollock and Marg** Brown** nor is there one on freebmd so I am assuming the marriage was in another country?

No marriage on freebmd for Pollock / Browne 1872- so presumably they married in Scotland as well but I can`t find it on familysearch or the birth in Dundee ..
I am not on Scotlands People ..
just seen your post Carole as I posted ...no - I can`t find birth or marriage in Scotland either ...

This appears to be the same John James Pollock who was the subject of your earlier thread so did you order the death cert?

Where did you get the info from that he was b 1844 in Dundee?  Are you basing it on reply 7 of this other thread or do you have independant info to show it is him?

I'm not surprised that you are having problems because the details you give just don't pan out.

1. There is no trace of a John (or a John James) Pollock bc.1844 living in/born in Dundee on Scottish census.
2.  There is no baptism for him in Dundee.
3. As already mentioned, where did 'Dundee' come from?
4. When did he arrive in Australia?
5. The death entry for 1913 states parents were 'James and Margaret' but was he bc.1844 or is he the son of John (?) Pollock and Margaret Brown who was born 1874?   The newspaper reports state they had a 13year old daughter but Margaret (nee Brown) would have been 58 in 1900.  As already mentioned, did you purchase a copy of the death certificate as you said you would on one of your other threads?   If you did, can you tell us exactly what it said?

There are too many inconsistencies here and so all facts need to be double-checked.   I note your first post on the subject was in 2011 - however, just making repeated requests for information giving the same facts as before is going nowhere because the details just don't add up I'm afraid.

Do you have his immigration record from his arrival in Australia? Sometimes they give place of birth.

His Australian marriage certificate to Margaret should also give his place of birth. Do you already have this, and is this where Dundee came from? Sometimes people don't know their place of birth - perhaps he lived in Dundee as a child and just thought he was born there ....
