I agree that James was in the Union Workhouse, but I would like verification of father's name and town, age etc. I have looked through a number of sources, such as 1841 and 1851 census for Sussex area, finding Eliza and child James, but not youngest child, William. The record I found Eliza's sentence at Lewes assizes, mentioned that she was arrested with her husband James and father William but no surnames were given, making me wonder whether it was her father or husband's father. The other interesting thing about tracking this couple is that I was able to get much more information about Eliza as a female convict, what happened to her in Tasmania etc. But both her first husband, a convict, and eventual husband in Tasmania, were so much harder to find.
