Kelly's of Co. Antrim and Co. Derry
« on: Saturday 19 July 14 08:19 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to place which Kelly's in Northern Ireland I come from. I believe it is the Kelly's of Co. Antrim and Co. Derry based on my research. I have several DNA matches with people in Co. Derry, Co. Antrim, Co. Tyrone, Co. Donegal, and one or two in Co. Down. I am a Y-DNA match for Niall of the Nine Hostages and also have DNA matches with MacNeil's and O'Neil's, so I believe I am linked to either Clan O'Neill or the Clannaboy O'Neil's. I am looking to trace my great great grandfather Philip Joseph Kelly (b. 1826) or his father who was also named Philip (I believe), back to Northern Ireland and to a specific county. If anyone has any information or insight on tracing my family or more general information about the Kelly's of Co. Derry and Co. Antrim, please post it here or send it to my PM system. Thanks

Eugene

Just using Philip as a first name
Philip Joseph Kelly (b. 1826) There are multiple Philip Kellys recorded in Ulster on www.askabout Ireland.com under Griffiths valuation dated 1850-60’s. Northern Ireland counties where found include 1 in Co Antrim, 3 in Co Armagh, 3 in Co.Tyrone but you are missing out on the Co Cavan, Co Donegal, and Co Monaghan heritage.
