Whiten Hill Park, Lancashire
« on: Monday 27 June 05 15:24 BST (UK) »
One of my ancestors has given her place of birth as being Whiten Hill and Whitenhill Park on the censuses. I have checked genuki and there seems to be no such place. Has anyone any suggestions as to where it might be or an alternative spelling? Reply to me here or email me (*)

Hi,

Your ancestor wouldn`t  have come from around Burnley way would she?  There was an Ightenhill Park which was on the outskirts of Burnley/Habergham Eaves.  It was listed as Ightenhill Park in various census`s.
Now it is just know as Ightenhill (pronounced eyetenhill).

Witton Park is on the south west side of Blackburn, though the inclusion of Hill makes it less likely to be the right place.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
