I can't see any details on the naturalisation document which would confirm that it refers to this Thomas Wright. As vronlady says , there are other possibilities , including the Thomas Wright who died 21 Oct 1860 who we now know is not your Thomas Wright. Given that your Thomas married in 1844 and had his first child , Edward W , in Massachusetts I don't think that the Thomas Wright who arrived in 1848 on the Milton is yours either.

I think if you know for absolutely certain that his wife's maiden name  is doyle it would be worth getting the marriage certificate mentioned earlier and see what that says.

The 1844 marriage details came from an entry in a register of Boston marriages included in the Massachusetts Town & Vital records on ancestry. There are no names of parents or witnesses given unfortunately.

Tanya that is the same document I viewed on ancestry - just because a Thomas Wright from Boston born in England in 1826 was naturalised in 1853 that doesn't prove that it's your Thomas Wright !

Now, that's what stumps me. Christine. :-/

As far as I know, Thomas Wright was the father of Edward, Thomas, Adeline, and Mary. Mary was the mother of Thomas Edward Lewis Kemp, my great-grandfather. Thank you for helping me, though. :-)

do you have marys birth certificate to be sure of her mothers maiden name. if so then the next best way forward would be to get the actual marriage certificate of Thomas and ann Catherine.

I don't, but I could ask one of my maternal aunts, who has researched the Doyle, Wright, and Kemp lines. I wrote down the information from Family Search, though. It says that Mary married Arthur H. Kemp on August 14, 1876 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Her parents, Thomas and Catherine, are listed in the marriage records and so are her in-laws, Samuel Kemp and Annie M. Baldwin. This record, however, says she was born about 1857 and that she was 19.

well this is her birth on family search
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-13033-15424-4?cc=1536925

which gives full birth date but not Catherine's maiden name. it does however state father Thomas as being born England  :-\

adelines death seems to confirm mothers maiden name as doyle

Addie Hollis, widow of Frank Hollis, d 2 Sep 1910 Boston,,Massachusetts
b Boston, Massachusetts, parents  Thomas Wright & Catherine Doyle

so I would definitely get the marriage certificate to get all the details.

I don't know which part of the world you are in.
