Meaning of two more plaques

I was very grateful for the help on my previous posting and have two more from the same building.

I think they are dates from 15th or 16th centuries but am unable to understand them.

Dear David,

I'm no expert, but I think the first four letters in the first plaque spell Hugh  (hVgh) as I think very often they used to use V for U and it's the old fashioned g that's after it and lower case h at the start and end.  What do you think? 

I have no idea what the rest of it is though.

Thank you once again for your reply.

You could be right. I was thinking of the V as a number but it could be a letter and the name would be appropriate. I will try and think how the rest could fit in.
The large A with what looks like an imposed v is a puzzle but it might just be a styalised A.

   They seem similar to what looks like a capital "A" with the "V" imposed.

Are these pieces of stone from an older building and inserted into a newer one? Just a thought!

The plaques have been recycled and probably date from c1581 - see my previous posting.

For some reason, I got my Hughs mixed up and was thinking the probable Hugh on the plaque married Catherine Vaughan, but this was a hundred years later and two previous Hughs married an Anne Vaughan - all related.

It would make sense that the name on the left of the first one is Hugh and the A/V is a monogram for Anne Vaughan.

Only guessing, but it crossed my mind that EII might refer to the second year of the reign of Elizabeth I, which is possibly when Hugh Married Anne Vaughan.

it is not c1581 - it is exact 1581!

The hV8h is a Hugh and 1V81 = 1581,
the first part of the "h" is representing the "1".
