Identification of Medals and Cap Badge
« on: Thursday 03 July 14 10:00 BST (UK) »
I would be most grateful if the medal with the grey ribbon could be identified.  I am reasonably confident of the others in the group but confirmation would be appreciated.   I also attach a picture of a cap badge:  can anyone please identify it?   Any response would be very much appreciated.

You can post images up to 500 kb the second one of yours is 16. If you have the original you need to increase the resolution to about 600 dpi. If your scanner does not have a pre-scan which allows you to only scan a portion, then scan the whole of the picture and then use something like Paint to select just the area you need.

You highlight it in a rectangle, press C (copy); then New and then Ctrl V (paste) and save the new image as a new name.

Again a better scan of the medal might show it to be the Al Valore Militare of Italy or a fore runner from Piedmont-Sardinia at the time of the Crimean War.

They had a silver blue ribbon and that shape of suspension They should be a cross within a shield under a crown. The Turkish btw normally had a ring suspension when issued.

Good evening,

I'm guessing that the second picture is WW2 and the badge is on a beret. The badge is the Royal Observer Corp.

The medal could also be the Imperial BEA Co's medal, don't ask me what all that means. Havn't been able to find a picture as yet. All searches result in no finds.

Back again,

It occurs to me that if we have the name of the recipient, being a VC holder, we can look him up and get a list of his medals.
