War Memorial in Warrington
« on: Saturday 28 June 14 16:51 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help?
I am looking for the memorial for 2 of my great great uncles who died in 1917. I have managed to find pictures of their grave stones in Belgium but cannot find their memorial at home. I have scoured the internet for pictures but cannot find any. They are Charles and Richard Leigh of Warrington. They were in the south Lancashire Regiment.
Thanks.

There is a war memorial in the gardens in Palmyra Square, but the uniform is from the Boer War.

Just up the road is the Town Hall. So it may be near there.

You could also try

http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Lancashire/

It's a bit of a slog but it's the most comprehensive list of memorial transcriptions i know on the internet.

There are entries of those names on the main Civic Memorial at Bridge Foot (slightly blurred image attached).

I assume that these refer to your men.

Looks like you've found the two names you are looking for on a memorial.  However, there is never any guarantee that a chap will appear on any memorial - many don't.  Equally, don't stop looking just because you've found one memorial with them, they may be on more - the most I've found so far is one chap who is on 11 memorials in the UK (that I've found so far).
