George Crawford Campbell (Born 1867)
« on: Thursday 26 June 14 17:58 BST (UK) »
Looking to find information on George Crawford Campbell born July 17, 1867 in Dirraw, County Antrim, Ireland. I have his birth date, but not his death date. His father was Richard Campbell (1819-1903) and his mother was Margaret Corker (1825-1901). The last known address I have for my Campbell relatives is The Townlands of Culmore, Ballymaconnelly, County Antrim, Ireland. His Uncle was my Great Great Grandfather John Campbell (1809-1890), who emigrated to Canada about 1850. Any information would be greatly appreciated! I don't have any information on John & Richard's parents either (my Great Great Great Grandparents), all I have about them is that they are buried in the graveyard at Kilrea, County derry.
Thanks, Murray Thomson

The website Tithe Applotment records 1823 to 1838 for Rasharkin civil Parish is not yet online at  http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/antrim/tithe-applotments/ but Finvoy civil parish is!
the original for Rasharkin exists for callers at PRONI Belfast.
The entry found likely is
Campbell, James County : Antrim
Parish : Finvoy
 Townland : Derragh
  Year : 1834.
Likely because it has the same sound Dirraw and Derragh. So I would be supposing Richards father could be a James. However there are no Corker in the list for Finvoy 1834.

Have you exhausted Bill McAfee website

Thank you Jim, I will definitely check out that website. The information you provided is greatly appreciated!
I'm starting to think that I am trying to find a needle in a haystack though! I have limited information on my Campbell relatives in Ireland. The only other piece of information that I have, is that my Great Great Great Grandparents are buried in the cemetery at Kilrea, County Derry but I don't know what either of their 1st names were. I have a photo of George Crawford Campbell and a photo of the house where my Great Great Grandfather John Campbell grew up in in Ireland. He named his sons, John, Robert (My Great Grandfather) and Richard. His daughters names were Ann Jane, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Maria, Sarah Letitia and Mary Ellen. So I am figuring from that, that possibly his parents names were probably the same. John and Mary being the most popular names in my family being handed down generation after generation.
I even sent a letter to the last known address of George Crawford Campbell, which was the Townlands of Culmore, Ballymaconnelly, County Antrim, but it was returned undelivered. I believe this was in 1954, when he lived there.
Again thank you for your help, and I'm not giving up just yet!!

Do you have the actual birth certificate? if not, then 'Dirraw' is the sub-registration district and you'd need the certificate to find the actual townland where he was born.

Richard Campbell (m. Margaret Corker)
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Killoquin_North/Gortereghy/946712

Son George Crawford Campbell in 1911-

Someone else researching the family- if you google richard campbell & margaret corker you'll find more-

Corker would be a Kilrea name- quite a few of the family went to Ontario I believe.
