When I enlarged the photo I was curious about the XXX's on top of some sort of structure in the background (situated near his stomach). It's not something I've seen before and I have no idea what it could be.
There's a tall post with cross bars to the left of that structure and the style reminds me of the old fashioned wire carrying posts, which were probably sited all over the then "modern" world.
I'm presuming those are roses in the garden border.
