I t does look as if that could  be a railway signal in the background   with the 3 x  crossing signal nearby ... Could the house be a house attached to a signal box..?.
Looks like pruned rose bushes in the border ... ;D

Could the man in the photo be a relative or family friend? I know when trying to identify people in old photos, mistakes can be made.

I don't suppose there are any more photos in the collection? Often several shots were taken at the same time on the one roll of film. :)
