In the next census he is down as son. You may have to get his birth certificate to find his parents, unless it is Ellen, who would be old enough.

Thanks thats him.Only been asked today to look for him .We do know he was born out of wedlock.Have told my family friend shel have to send for her fathers Owens  birth cert he died when she was two so has little info

She also knew that Owens mother later married a Reynolds
Theres a Sarah Jane Law marrying a Reynolds on free bmd
And Thomas and Mary Anns oldest daughter was Sarah Jane born 1878 so think shes Owens mother shel need birth cert to confirm

That sounds very likely doesn't it, the usual thing, grandparents claiming the grandchild as their son, or in this case at  first, as a nephew. As you say, only the certificate will show his mother.

Know a lot about Law family. Would like contact with welsh lady.
