Seems it is a very large family scattered liberally around Denby and emvirons.  I haven't followed the batty side of things - only noted that Sarah Batty married into the Gaunts.   

Looks as if the Battys were as good at populating the place as the Gaunts and Hobsons!

Last year Lizzie Gaunty and I did lots of digging and found a heap of information about the earlier family on Ancestry which now has the West Yorkshire records online.  With any luck you might find more of your Battys there too.

not sure at moment, who are the parents of Joseph Batty are, & not sure where the Guants fit in . The Gaunt ( Elizabeth ) marries a John Buckley who is my GG Grandfather, & Elizabeth my GG Grandmother.  she was born 1799. I will post what i can find out.

just found Rachel Batty's mothers maiden name , it was Wilkinson ( Ann ) she'd be my GG Grandma
