I am in Australia but use .co.uk. I can't sign in on my tablet so I switched on my laptop where I am always signed in. However, I seem to have been signed out and cannot sign in there either.

SALT LAKE CITY — Ancestry.com has experienced outages and site failures after being hacked Monday.

"The genealogy site was offline for much of Tuesday after a Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS) crashed the site, as well as Find A Grave — a sister site of Ancestry.com.

Starting Monday afternoon, hackers fooled the websites into thinking there was an inordinate amount of traffic flooding the sites, which crashed their servers".

Looks as if that might be the reason, if you are always logged in you can now use it, but it wont let people sign in. I've just tried it and everything is working as normal.

I'm always logged in and have been able to use it without any problems since this morning (not that I've used it very much though - unpacking  :-X  )

I've managed to get in to Ancestry and everything I touched is working well except messages.  It is true that if you are logged in and stay so you should be okay (its the front end that a DDoS attack swamps).  I'm actually connected via a mobile phone network to the site from my laptop, which probably means lots of people are still being blocked from access due to there being "bots" connected to their ISP that are being blocked by Ancestry as its difficult to distinguish those bots from real users trying to access the site.
