REV JULIUS BENN - MATLOCK 1883 Murder - Burial Location

I am looking for the burial place of the REV Julius Benn who is buried in the Matlock area in 1883 after being murdered by his son William Rutherford Benn.

According to the Probate Record, he was a "dissenting minister", so that might rule out any local CoE graveyards.

Have you tried the local council - Derbyshire Dales - to see if they have any cemetary listings?

According to the newspaper reports he was a Congregationalist Minister, residing at 119 Stepney Green, London. According to the 1881 census he had a wife and five children, his eldest son attended the inquest so it could be his body was returned to London for burial.

In the 1871 Census he had eight children in London, so it is more than likely that his body was returned to London for a family funeral.

I would also assume the funeral service would be held in his church.

Thanks for the information. I believe the body was left in the area due to the fact it was a bad corpse and the newspapers reports he was buried locally.
I'am not sure of the Matlock area so not sure what cemeteries are there.

 I was hoping that the Derbyshire sales were online but not available yet.
