Hi Marie
Pretty hopeful I have found your HEGGIE family under HAGEN on the 1881 Census for Greenock RNF. Your message didn't say, but was your Margaret Jane HEGGIE nee MOSS born 13 May 1858 Dunbarton to James MOSS & Sarah HAGAN? If so she was abt 23 yrs old at Census 1881.  If this is your Margaret, lord only knows why in 1881 they enumerated HEGGIE as HAGEN -  Margarets mother's maiden surname

  - but then, if James was Irish, perhaps his accent was mis-understood by the Census man.....??  The child Annie in the house is exactly the right age for your Annie HEGGIE born June 1880.  Also, although it doesn't have James as a Sugar Labourer (just Labourer), there is another man in the house of that occupation and very likely they all worked at same place. Also, the Census Margaret was a Milliner - maybe this is also a matching marker for you?
