Have you looked at Lancashirebmd.org.uk

Is the area you are looking for part of Ardwick as there are appropriately named children listed....Joseph has he been recorded as Joe?

Hi

I've just had a look at that.  I'm not sure to be honest.  There is a Joseph Hewitt born in Ardwick in 1901, but I think this is possibly to early because on the 1911 Census he was 8 years old, so the Joe could possibly he him.  is there anywhere I can check to find anything further.  I find it strange that only some of the children were baptised.

Chrissy

I would be cautious about Joe - there is a possible here in 1911 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XWB2-YD1

You would perhaps have to purchase birth certificate to check.

I have a feeling they were living in Bradford, Clayton or Openshaw rather than Gorton so I think you are correct that Joe Hewitt isn't one of mine.  There doesn't appear to be another in 1902/3 though.

Have you checked this one?

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/2FZ1-MVY. Prestwich covered Bradford and Clayton.

Thanks Heywood.  That looks a good possibility, I think I will order that one.  I didn't know Prestwich covered Bradford and Clayton though!!

Now I can look for the births of the missing babies in Prestwich too - which I had previously dismissed!
