Rainhill Hospital
« on: Sunday 08 June 14 22:23 BST (UK) »
Hello

I wonder if someone would know what happened to the bodies of those buried in Rainhill Hospital after it closed down.  I have been told that if you died there you were buried there.  Is that true?  I am trying to trace my friends grandmother who died in 1957.  My friend has all of her medical records and she was told that her grandmothers body was moved.  Having done some research, I read that if you died in Rainhill you were buried in St Helens Cemetery, and I have found a lady of the same name but she was cremated in 1985.  The lady is called Margaret Ritson. Would it be possible for any bodies later exhumed to be be cremated.

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Hi

Yes, I read through this, but I couldn't really glean any answers from it and was hoping someone with more knowledge now could help.

Thank you.
