Help in dating the photo and approx age of adults .
« on: Saturday 07 June 14 22:53 BST (UK) »
Hello ,
This photo was found with my Grandmothers old photos...she was born in 1915 .On the back of the photo is written 'Mam aged 4' .If this is her on the picture this would date this about 1919...would the clothing match this timeline .Her own mother was born in 1884 so the other option would be 1888 but the clothes look later than this. The only thing is that the adults in the picture look nothing like my Grandmothers parents ...I have added a photo of these people too .Thanks for any advice!

I have a similar photo of a child in similar clothing and she was born in 1917 so this could well be your grandmother . in your photo the adults look to be in their 20's. the other photo could be them later on ?

Kids are hard to date, but the woman's v-neck blouse style didn't start until 1913/14 so this would be just about right for 1919.

Thanks this confirms this is may well be my grandmother ..I am just not convinced the parents look right. Its hard to tell with the woman as  the photo  is damaged and the only photo I have of them is the one later in life .

Hello Fred

To me they do look like the same people - especially your Great-Grandma - it's the way she holds her head. In both photos the man appears to have large hands.  See what others think.  ::)

Yes I think they are the same couple too about 20 years apart.

If you can rescan it at a higher resolution ( 300dpi) we will have a go at restoring it  ;D
